Introduction



In a very simple language “procrastination is  the action of postponing something”  We can also say that the shortest form of sentence “put your work of till tomorrow and day after” is procrastination

Science behind procrastination

Procrastination boils down to a battle between the limbic system and prefrontal cortex. The limbic system is a set of brain structures containing the pleasure center, while the  prefrontal cortex controls planning and decision making . The prefrontal cortex is less developed and thus weaker ,so often times ,the limbic system wins the battle ,and procrastination born.

Why procrastination is a problem in a self development?

Procrastination can restrict our full potential and undermine our carrier. Let’s know better with our real life examples
When we are in a school or in a job we have to complete multiple tasks like making notes doing assignments but we keep procrastinationing our work till deadline comes. It is good we have a deadline in our school projects but in real life there is no any deadline for our work’s so our procrastination can go through till infinity like some loop and we never achieve what we want in life . That’s why only few peoples can get what they want from their life

How to avoid it?

1.Setting deadlines

We often keep doing procrastinating when we have enough time to do that work but we didn’t realize that times never comes back  .So  making  deadlines can help us to realize that we haven’t much more time and we start doing our works now.

2.Taking some breaks

Taking a break help us to make our mind fresh and gives courage to do some more work. So when our mind start thinking “perhaps I have to do this work from tomorrow” take a break do whatever you love in break time like singing, listening songs ,walking ,exercise whatever you want . Then the break time provide us more energy and courage to do work now and that’s how we can stop procrastinating our work.

3.Setting goals

Goals is  a destination where we want to go. Our mind release dopamine hormone when we fell some pleasure. When we have a goal to achieve  our mind will be ready to do that work for accomplish the goals. The feeling of  achieve goals makes us motivated so making goals can help us to avoid procrastinating otherwise without goals we haven’t idea why we doing so and we keep procrastinating.

4.Schedule work or make a to do list

We often have to move through a step by step to finish work in a better way .Daily to do list help us to encourage to finish that work in that day anyhow that also makes us to avoid procrastination

5.Self Discipline

Last but not least self discipline is everything we do. Only a self disciplined human can be stable in every fucked up situation . Not to show others person what I do but asking a true self what I did for me and keep working is a self discipline. So Self discipline help us to be stable in our work even without caring other bad suggestion .

At in the end I want to say that procrastination in nothing if we are self discliplined.
